Connecting the Ningxia Wine Region to Europe
The HUB was created in Peñafiel, Ribera de Duero to facilitate the entry of selected wines from the Helan Mountains into Spain and, from here, into the European market.
Ningxia Helan Mountains East Foothills Wine Region is one of China’s leading emerging wine regions and an area internationally recognized for its conditions for growing wine grapes and producing quality wines.
The region has 261 wine companies, including 130 completed wineries, and an annual production of 140 million bottles, approximately 50% of China’s total wine production.

The region has developed an industry oriented towards internationalisation, with wines present in more than 40 countries and regions and with more than 1,800 awards won in international competitions for wines from more than 60 wineries.
In addition, “Ningxia Helan Mountains Easts Foothills Wines” was included in the EU-China Agreement on Cooperation on, and Protection of, Geographical Indications, becoming one of the first geographical indications to receive mutual recognition and protection in China and the European Union.
